About this artwork
This Vanity belongs to a collection of 40 works "In vanitas veritas".
The term dictator - etymologically "the one who speaks" - designated an exceptional magistracy in ancient Rome. It was a supreme magistracy with full powers.
A dictator is a head of state who exercises the political power of a country alone, without separation of powers. He practices the repression of any form of opposition and tramples on human rights, of individuals, with an absolute command of the army, or the police. Several countries in the world live under dictatorships, very harsh political regimes where freedoms are condemned and forbidden. The totalitarian regimes of the early 20th century (Nazi Germany, USSR) have given the world many dictators in the last century.
Man must be treated with respect, dignity and decency.
Respect gives value to rules and laws for a democracy, in freedom, legality and fraternity.Translated automatically
