Fabrication – Violet

The interplay of tessillated shapes and intense, rich colour combine to create a illusions of movement across the picture plane - almost as if the patterns are shimming on the surface. Optically the shapes advance and recede hovering between 2D and 3D, which shift and change depending on the vantage point. The luxuriant qualities of oil paint are employed to celebrate the sumptuous depiction of fabrics and materials thoughout the centuries of oil painting.
